SLC Primefoods Corp, Recognizes Mindoro Calamansi as Key to Operations, Employment

SLC Primefoods Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to local agricultural partnerships by acknowledging the high-quality calamansi supply sourced from Oriental Mindoro.

According to Ms. Marianne Del Rosario, Offsite Lead of SLC Primefoods Corp., the calamansi from Mindoro has successfully met the company’s stringent quality standards, enabling the smooth continuation of its processing operations.

“This vital contribution not only strengthens our operations but also supports the livelihood of local communities by creating seasonal employment for 46 workers,” Del Rosario emphasized.

The calamansi supply is made possible through the marketing partnership with the Naijan Farmers Association (NAFA), which consolidates the produce of local growers in Oriental Mindoro. This initiative is supported by the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) headed by Mr. Orlando B. Tizon, working closely with farmer groups and cooperatives to strengthen their capacity and market linkages.

Mr. Tizon recently visited the calamansi processing plant of SLC Primefoods in Bayanan I, Calapan City, where he met with Ms. Del Rosario and Mr. Nelson Gaya of NAFA to discuss continuing collaboration for the benefit of local farmers and workers.

The project is also in unison with the development thrust of Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, which prioritizes agricultural advancement and enterprise development as a way to sustain inclusive growth in Oriental Mindoro.

Through this collaboration among the provincial government, PCDO, NAFA, and SLC Primefoods, Mindoro’s role in sustaining both industry requirements and community development is further solidified.

Oriental Mindoro, long known for its abundant calamansi production, remains a reliable source of raw materials for national-level food processors. With government backing and private sector partnerships, the province continues to strengthen its place as a key contributor to the country’s agricultural and processing industries.
