Or.Min. hosts the first MIMAROPA Regional DRRM Summit 2025

 In response to the ongoing challenges of climate change and disasters in the country, the first-ever MIMAROPA Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Summit 2025 was successfully conducted on 17 September at the Bulwagang Panlalawigan of the Provincial Capitol.

Led by the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) under the leadership of Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, in collaboration with the Provincial DRRM Office (PDRRMO) headed by PDRRM Officer Vinscent B. Gahol, the summit gathered over 300 Local DRRM Officers from the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.

In his message, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) MIMAROPA OIC Marc Rembrandt P. Victore expressed his gratitude to PGOM for its full support in the implementation of the summit.

He emphasized that this activity aims to strengthen coordination between local governments and national agencies in disaster response, to share innovative strategies in disaster preparedness, response and recovery, and to promote community participation to be more resilient against the threats of disasters and calamities.

Occidental Mindoro Board Member and SP Committee Chair on DRRM Roderick Agas and Gloria MDRRM Officer John Surat, President of the Oriental Mindoro DRRM Officers and Practitioners Association also delivered their messages.

Discussions of Magna Carta for DRRM Workers, new guidelines on reporting affected citizens and pre-emptive evacuation, presentation of Project Moses, and showcasing best practices from various provinces of MIMAROPA were also highlighted on the event.

There was also an exhibit of rescue and DRRM equipment and a Mini Trade Fair of products made in Oriental Mindoro. 

MIMAROPA DRRM summit 2025 served as an important step in strengthening the disaster resilience of the region, reinforcing a more strengthened relationship between DRRM practitioners toward a safer and more disaster-prepared MIMAROPA.
