Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Chief Social Insurance (CSI) Officer Ma. Neresa C. Reganit explained new programs and expanded benefits of PhilHealth during Kapihan held by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) MIMAROPA.
Topics discussed includes the Yaman at Kalusugan Alay sa Pamilyang Pilipino (YAKAP) covering Consult Package, PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT), and other programs aimed at providing broader health services such as free dialysis, cancer screening, maintenance medications, primary care services, and other benefits.
According to Reganit, in response to current administration’s directive, PhilHealth GAMOT Program was launched this August 2025 with ₱20,000 annual benefit limit per beneficiary that can be used at PhilHealth-accredited local drugstores, as long as the member is registered in YAKAP program, and has the latest prescription from a PhilHealth-accredited doctor.
Currently, only three local pharmacies in Oriental Mindoro submitted applications for accreditation thus, Reganit encouraged other drugstore owners and pharmacy associations in the province to apply for accreditation to expand public access to the program.
Meanwhile, 37 YAKAP Clinics have been accredited in Oriental Mindoro, including Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital, MMG Hospital, Luna Goco Medical Center, Ma. Estrella General Hospital, Sta. Maria Village Hospital, St. Therese of Avila Diagnostic and Medical Hospital, St. Rafael LabCure, Rural Health Units (RHUs) in each town, and other private hospitals.
Patients for the Consultation Package and YAKAP benefits included in the list of 75 molecules prescribed by PhilHealth-accredited doctors can be accepted by these hospitals.
Reganit also discussed other benefits of PhilHealth such as the animal bite treatment and the Z package for in-patient cases.
Z package includes a special benefit aimed at covering the expenses for illnesses considered “catastrophicâ€, which means diseases that are extremely expensive to treat and can cause severe hardship for families without financial assistance.
Along with this, they are conducting Caravans in priority areas.
According to Reganit, 92% of the population in Oriental Mindoro is now covered by PhilHealth, while their agency continues to strive to achieve 100% coverage to ensure that no Filipino or Oriental Mindoreño is left behind in terms of healthcare services.
At the end of the discussion with the provincial journalists, Reganit assured that PhilHealth continues to provide affordable and quality healthcare services for all Filipinos, in accordance with the mandate of their agency.
Reganit was joined by PhilHealth Marketing & Information Officer Eleanor B. Vergara, Contribution & Information Officer Ruel M. Caringal, and Claims & Information Officer Lovelyn D. Dolor in providing important information about their agency’s programs. (Photo credits to PIA MIMAROPA)
