In acccordance with the provisions of Republic Act No. 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, the three-day Training-Workshop on the Formulation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (PDRRMP) 2026-2028 was successfully conducted on 26-28 August 2025, at Feraren Hills Resort, Calapan City.
Led by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) under the leadership of PDRRM Officer Vinscent B. Gahol, on behalf of the Provincial Government led by Governor Humerlito “Bonz†A. Dolor this activity aims to develop a comprehensive, meaningful, and standard-compliant plan for the province in accordance to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Four main groups actively participated, namely: Prevention and Mitigation Team; Preparedness Team; Response Team; and, Rehabilitation and Recovery Team.
Speakers at the workshop were Research, Planning, Administration and Training Division Chief Ivy Kristine A. Basco, Operations and Warning Division Chief Ram Joseph D. Temena, and LDRRMO III Mannylyn A. Guevarra.
PDRRMP 2026–2028 is expected to be more effective, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the province during disasters, and will serve as a guide for local governments and stakeholders in formulating concrete steps towards a safer, more resilient, and prepared community.
Representatives from the Provincial DRRMC, City/Municipal DRRMOs, Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), PAGASA, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Education (DepEd), the offices of the Provincial Government, civil society organizations, private sector, and educational institutions were also present.
